How we choose garage door companies
We send each request to one company per city. These are the checks a company has to pass first, and keep passing.
What we check
- An active Arizona contractor license for garage door work, checked with the Registrar of Contractors. We note the license number, class and status, and recheck it periodically.
- Liability insurance, shown to us on a current certificate.
- Local service in the city we send requests from, with realistic response times, including for doors stuck open or cars trapped inside.
- Clear pricing. The company agrees to give homeowners a total price before starting work.
- A track record of public reviews and how the company responds when something goes wrong.
Why only one company
When you’re dealing with a broken door, five calls from five companies isn’t help. Sending each request to one vetted company keeps your phone quiet and makes that company accountable to us for how it treats you.
What we don’t do
- We don’t do repairs, inspect work or guarantee results. The company you hire is responsible for its work and warranty.
- We don’t publish ratings or rankings of companies.
- We don’t sell your request to several companies.
How we’re paid
Companies may pay us for the requests we send them. That’s how the site stays free for homeowners. It doesn’t affect the checks above. Details are in our referral disclosure.
If something goes wrong
Tell us. We take complaints into account when deciding whether to keep sending requests to a company. See our complaints policy.
